She’s back this week to finish the Signs of Summer series by telling us her process in preparing for this lake shot and to inspire you to continue with your summer photography! -Kelly
Summer means vacation time to me. That might mean a road trip with my hubby, enjoying August evenings with my daughter at Winnipeg’s famous Folkorama Cultural Festival, or visiting my twin sister in Ontario, Canada. Summer also means having a list of “hope to get” vacation shots.
On a recent visit to my sister’s, I look forward to taking pictures at one of my favorite places there, the lake where her boyfriend has a cottage. This picture was taken when the morning light was particularly lovely on the lake. As I walked out on the dock, the rope wrapped around the boat hook caught my eye. I lay on my stomach to capture the picture and noticed the bokeh on the water.
This made my shot even more special. Every time I look at this picture, I remember the good time with my sister, the pontoon boat that the rope held, and the joy of getting that “special” vacation photo.
What’s on your vacation photography list? You still have a few weeks left to grab those shots and mark them off your list!
Here are a few things to jumpstart your list:
A drive in movie
An outdoor concert
Visit a carnival
Visit a zoo
Make homemade ice cream or popsicles
Go to a water park
A day at the beach
Visit a botanical garden
Go for a canoe ride
Fly a kite
Ride a train
Visit a new city
Whatever you do and wherever you go, capture the fun you had in pictures. And remember to get yourself in a few shots!
How do you plan to finish your summer in pictures?
