September 365 Photo Challenge List

This Really Matters

September CY365 Photo Challenge List

Somedays I find myself tired of taking a photo every day. Somedays I feel like I’ve taken this photo before. Why am I taking it again?

And then I step back and look at my collection of photos.

I step back and can look at my life and see a glimpse of EVERY SINGLE DAY since February 20th, 2008. Every day minus the three that somehow got away.

It’s not about the number of photos. It’s about the picture they create together.

I can see the small details of the life I share with my family and friends. I can see the big moments and the mundane. When everything around me seems to be racing so very fast, it’s my small way of slowing things down. It’s my small way of remembering what matters most.

365 doesn’t need to mean every day.

It can fit whatever works for you.

It does mean that you have made the decision that your life matters enough to be photographed. To be remembered.

It means that you are doing your part to slow this crazy world. And together, we can catch our collective breath.

And that is not a bad thing at all.

How can you use the list? Follow three quick steps!

Download the September Challenge List to your favorite device or print it for quick reference. I post mine right next to my desk.

Subscribe to the free daily emails for a prompt reminder and tips for each day’s prompts.

Go sequential if that’s your thing or pick one that inspires you. Go out on your own if you need to. There is no wrong way to use the prompts!

And really…if you need to skip a prompt…then skip it! It’s your project. Make it your own!

This month’s repeating prompts are:

September 14 – Self Portrait

September  21 – Color, this month’s color is brown.

September 28 – A Portrait of a person

Create your image with whatever camera you have! Phone, dSLR, point and shoot.

This month we are also joining Ali Edwards’ Week In The Life from September 9th to 15th. You can read more about her project here. It’s a project I love and have completed several times. They are my family’s favorite books to look through.

Shoot what you can. Share what you can. No pressure.  Sharing helps keep you motivated all year long.

You can:

  • Tag them on Instagram or Twitter with #CY365.  (You can follow me @katrinakennedy so I can follow you!)
  • Upload them to the CY365 Gallery for a little gallery love.
  • Post them to our Flickr group.
  • Post them to the CY365 Facebook page.
You’ve got options!

And Then…

In the comments below, share what matters to you most about YOUR collection of photos.

  1. I don’t claim to be a great photographer but love being able to look back over the last 3 months in images. I’ll be continuing for sure.

  2. I love that I can make the project my own, no pressure from anyone but myself to capture the moments from my days. Thank you for the inspiration to pick up my camera every day!

I have been doing this photo-a-day list since oct 2012 and i have enjoyed every moment of it. it has opened my eyes to lots of photo opportunities. and yeah granted some days are harder than others but i still make it work for me because i know that not all my photos will be perfect….because well…life is never perfect either. Thanks for the continued inspiration!
