March CY365 Photo Challenge List | 2014

There is a camaraderie in photography. There is a community we create by picking up our cameras to document our lives.

March CY365 Photo Challenge List 2014

On March 4th, 2011, I launched CaptureYour365 because of that  camaraderie. That connection. This month we celebration our connection.

We are connected in a quest to find the perfect light. We are connected in the desire to create THAT photograph. The one that will take our breath away when we move it to our computer monitor. The one that will make us cry when it arrives from the printer.

We have different cameras. We have different skill levels and different subjects we like to put into our frame. But we are all connected in the desire to capture the moments of our lives. We are connected in our burning need to treasure this very moment.

We work so hard to create a life that we can deem photographable. While some of us may wipe the dirty chins or tidy the room before we shoot, we are all working toward the same thing. Valuing the memory. Valuing the moment.

Sometimes our preservation may come from desperation. The desperation to stop the child from growing any faster. The desperation of fragile relationships and more fragile lives.

When I see your photos I get it. I understand the treasure of a blurry image of the person who is no longer with us. I understand the value of the snapshot of your child who isn’t a child anymore. I understand the underexposed photo you’ve tucked into your mirror and the draw of the faded faces in the photo by the window.

And you do too. You don’t need to ask why I’m shooting a crayon. Or a Lego. Or what I ate for breakfast. In that we are united. And when I see you from across the room as you take that photograph I smile. Because I understand.

And here are this month’s repeating prompts (the pink words). Not sure what a repeating prompt is? We talk about them on the CY365 Podcast.

  1. , He sent His word, and healed them . I was 33 years old at that time, and I felt so dieffrent! You can imagine the joy and excitement that has come into my life, as I have enjoyed having drivers license for the first time, going in stores by myself without panicking (sp?), and I have also been able to make new friends because of being able to go to more church events! Praise the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness!

Happy Birthday! Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary (that I just read about in this morning’s prompt). I’ve just started following this site / receiving daily prompts since November but I’ve been loving it. Thanks so much for all that you and your team do to educate and inspire your members and students. And for building up such a great, sharing community that is a wonderful source of motivation.

Congratulations on CY365’s Birthday this month Katrina! You have created an amazing site that promotes the love of photography, learning more about it in a positive environment, and camaraderie while practicing it. This site does bring people together! I am so glad I am taking part this year. Party on March 4th!!

  4. SherriS.

I didn’t realize this site and this project only began in 2011. Congratulations and thank you for bringing us together. I’m grateful for the people that take a moment to comment on my POTD. I also enjoy being able to enjoy others perspectives and skills. I only wish I had more time to enjoy every photo, every day!

  5. Heather K

I am so glad to be able to “connect” with this community. Thank you so much Katrina, and Happy Anniversary!
