Curating Your Life, One Photo At A Time
If you’ve taken a photo you’ve faced the challenge of curating your photographic life. With each photo we take we must decide to print, share, delete, caption, or tuck away in a digital file. As we curate our photos we create the story of our life. What we do with our photos will impact what we remember.
My collection (and yours) began with one photo. And then one more.
I started my 365 project over two thousand days ago. That’s two thousand days of looking at my everyday life. Those photos have taught me about photography and perseverance. There are good photos. There are not so good photos. There are photos with great meaning and photos with not so much. By selecting each day’s photos, I have curated a picture of who I am and what interests me. I’ve created a story that others might use to determine what matters most to me.
When I look at those 2000 and some photos, I know that I’ve curated a good life so far. There are smiles and laughs. There are tomatoes and flowers and bees and bugs. There are visits with friends and dinners shared with others. There are drinks with my husband and outings with my son.
I’m curating a good life and I have proof.
I hope you’ll join me this month as we curate more of our life’s moments. Let the prompts inspire you. Let the prompts remind you to pick up the camera. Let the prompts challenge and stretch you. But don’t be a slave to the prompts. Use them as your guide. And absolutely, don’t be afraid to set them aside if life presents something more meaningful than what the list can provide.
How many days are you in? I’d love to know what you’ve learned in your journey whether you are on day three or 400 or somewhere in between!
How can you use the list? Follow three quick steps!
Download the June Challenge List to your favorite device or print it for quick reference. I post mine right next to my desk and carry it on my phone.
Go sequential if that’s your thing or pick one that inspires you. Go out on your own if you need to. There is no wrong way to use the prompts! And really…if you need to skip a prompt…then skip it! It’s your project. Make it your own! And here are this month’s repeating prompts (the green words). Not sure what a repeating prompt is? Each month we focus on the same subject in a different way. We talk about them on the CY365 Podcast
