Is this the same class you taught over at Get It Scrapped? Are you just teaching here now? I took this class at GIS but was too busy at the time to participate, I was hoping to take it again, but it looks like I missed the deadline. Is there an email list I can get on for next time?

    • Hi Maureen,
These are newly updated versions of the classes I taught at GIS. I’ll be offering all of my classes here now. At the top right corner of this page click on FREE UPDATES to sign up for the newsletter. That’s the best spot to find out about what is coming up and for special class offers only available to list subscribers.

  2. Any chance your Exposure class has any openings? Just taking Kelley Willette’s class, and she recommend yours as well.

    • Hi Erin,

We are closed for this go round, but I’ll be offering it again the beginning of 2013. Registration will open Your Life Captured Through The Lens will be open in August. Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi,
Just wondering if you’re considering offering the Holidays through the Lens class this year. My family situation last year made it impossible to even consider, but would love to have the opportunity to do it this year.

  4. I know its probably the most crazy thing to ask but can you film your class and maybe post it on youtube. This is because I live all the way in England and I really want to cross the sea and come join in. But, being only 17 I dont think my mum would be very happy with this idea! hahahaha x

  5. I just stumbled across your site and am very excited to have found it! I am a teacher. I decided that during my summer break I would shoot 100 pictures in 100 days. I am an untrained photographer and I thought this would help me to learn throughout the summer. Little did I know there was this kind of support available. Maybe I will extend the project to 365.

Do you offer any of your courses online?

I might add that this whole photography thing has an added challenge for me because I am legally blind but I don’t let that stop me.

    Have a great day!

    • Welcome Kris! I’m so glad you found us!

My classes are all offered online. Signing up for the newsletter is the best way to know what is coming up next.

Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to seeing your photos!

    Hi Katrina,

I enrolled in your class last spring for Your Kids: Captured through.. I love your photos and find your lessons easy to follow. However, things got a bit hectic at the time so I still haven’t gone through the class materials but I am planning to do so soon.

How are the other classes in the series different (your kids/life/holidays)? How much of the “technical information” is different?

Thanks so much for the work you do!

    • Hi Benessi,

I totally understand how life can get hectic!

Your Life takes your through the steps to shoot in Manual Mode by first taking you through Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority. Each lesson focuses on one aspect of composition as well.

Your Kids focus on methods to get your kids to cooperate and to get great everyday photos of them in Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority mode. I don’t cover Manual Mode in your kids (although it always comes up in the forum discussions ;))

Your Holidays is really unique. It is 14 short lessons delivered over two weeks. Each lesson covers a particular aspect of the holidays and how to photograph it. It is step by step without explanation of they why or how behind it. It is mean as a quick guide to getting great shots of your holiday without taking a lot of your holiday time.

Good to hear from you! Hope to see you in class soon!

I have a fancy point and shoot camera, but I’m thinking about getting a dslr and improving my photography skills. I’m going on a mission trip to Africa next year and I would love to be able to take good pictures to tell the story back home. Do you have a recommendation for an entry level dslr? There are so many to choose from, I have no idea which would be best.

    • Stacie Rochell

Suzanne I have a Nikon D3100 that was very affordable and I absolutely love it. It is a wonderful entry level professional camera that I know you will be proud to own.

  8. Hi,

When will you be offering any more courses?

    Thank you!
    Mary

  9. Katrina, is it to late to sign up for your Inspired 2013 class?

    • Not too late at all! Registration is open all year. You’ll get access to the current month’s materials as well as all past months!

  10. Hi Katrina, I’ve signed up for one of your classes and was hoping to sign up for the class on exposure as well. I see that it is already filled, however, if you have any cancellations or additional openings please let me know – I could use the instruction in this area. By the way, I’m new to the site and I just want to say thank you for all the great instruction, energy, knowledge, and time you invest in helping all of us become better photographers. Thanks again.

    • Thanks for stopping by Ellen! So glad you like the site. Exposure registration opens up later this month! You’ve not missed a thing :) Make sure you are on the email list to be the first to find out when it opens!

  11. Heather Kurek

    Hi Katrina,
I just wanted to say thank you for offering your wonderful classes an axcess to a wonderful group of people on the 365. Now with the start of my 4th class with you, Exposure, I was wondering if you had a list posted somewhere of all the classes that you do offer? I would love to know if there are more/others I can look forward too!!

  12. Jean Funnell

You say you will not be offering this course again, will you have something to replace it, giving the same information about using manual modes. I would love to do the course but have been holding off until our South African exchange rate was a little more favorable. Thank you for all your inspiration.

  13. Janice Hoelscher

I know nothing about cameras, although I have a really expensive digital camera (Canon EOS 50D). I take a lot of pictures, but always set on automatic focus. I need a really basic class to start with. Is this that class or do I need to wait for another one to help me to understand even what aperture and all that even means?

    • Janice, Exposure assumes you’ve got an understanding of the exposure triangle and basic manual mode shooting. I’d recommend you wait until the beginning of February when I’ll be offering Your Life Captured Through The Lens again.

  14. Kari Novak

    Good Morning,
I was wondering how often you offer this class. I am not able to devote the amount of time or money necessary right now…however I would love the chance to take this class later in the year. Thank you!

    • HI Kari,
I’ll offer Your Life two more times this year. I don’t have definite dates yet. If you subscribe to the newsletter, you’ll get notified when they open for registration.

Hi Katrina, I just found this website a couple of days ago and have a new Nikon d3200. I am a total beginner and want to learn how to shoot in manual mode. I’m very excited to learn how this nice camera works. What class do you recommend. I love this site and have just started the 365 challenge

  16. When is your next Exposure class being offered?

  17. I’m impressed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally
educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you have hit
the nail on the head. The problem is something that too few people are
speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I came across this in my search for something regarding this.

my web blog … what is driving under the influence

  18. Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to your
blog before but after looking at a few of the posts I realized it’s new to
me. Regardless, I’m definitely pleased I came across it and I’ll be book-marking it
    and checking back regularly!

  19. It’s really a cool and helpful piece of information. I’m happy
that you just shared this useful information with us.

Please keep us up to date like this. Thank you for sharing.
