Behind The Lens | Sue Griffin

Each month we introduce you to a talented member from the CY365 Community. Sue Griffin (Effie Stop in the gallery and forum) is this month’s featured artist. Sue has been part of CaptureYour365 since 2012! I love getting to look in on her corner of the world, it’s stunning. You’ll love her work too.

Meet Sue.

What sparked your interest in photography?

I have always been fascinated with photography and having photographs to record the memories. My Brownie camera was my first camera, think I got it when I was eight. I am always the person that has the camera to record memories. When I got my Canon DSLR in 2012, I was determined to learn how to use all the features and get off auto mode.

Which comes first, the story or the photo?

Definitely depends on my mood at the time. Getting the photo is the most important because in a way it tells a story. Other times I take photos of “stuff” just because I can.

If you could only use one lens for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Actually my kit lens 18-135mm is on my camera the most, a great walk-around-lens. I love my nifty fifty and feel pretty familiar using it. This summer I got a 90mm Tamron 2.8 and love it. However, I still am working on that learning curve. … As far as one lens, I don’t think I could do it.

What motivates you to pick up your camera every day?

Mostly the daily prompts motivate me. I like the challenge of shooting out of my comfort zone as well. I strongly feel, if I don’t shoot daily I’ll forget the techniques I have been learning and I want those techniques to become a habit.

What is your favorite thing about CY365?

NO questions about it, the community … with everyone’s diversified backgrounds, photography skills and personalities, we all come together with a mutual love for photography! I also loved the Holiday and Exposure Classes. Thanks to Katrina for getting me into manual mode and learning the mechanics of my camera.
