Behind The Lens | Shelle BudiselicPosted by Katrina Kennedy on Sep 9, 2016 in Behind The Lens, Blog | 11 comments
Each month we introduce you to a talented member from the CY365 Community. Shelle Budiselic (SoonerChick14 in the gallery and forum) is this month’s featured artist. I’ve always loved Shelle’s vest for life. You’ll see it shine through her photos. I’m thrilled to have her Behind The Lens this month! – Katrina
What sparked your interest in photography?
Back in the 80’s I needed an elective class for college during my first go round with higher education so I took a photography class. That was way before digital so we also learned how to develop our own photos! During the class we did a section on landscape photography and studied Ansel Adams. I was hooked.
Which comes first, the story or the photo?
In the beginning it was definitely the photo. If I was drawn to a scene I wanted to document it, usually without any attention to composition. Later I would look at the photos and wonder what I was thinking, lol. Now I often think first about what story I want to tell with the image. I still love to capture beauty whether there is a story or not, I just pay more attention to composition now.
If you could only use one lens for the rest of your life, which would it be?
70-200mm for sure! I got mine back in April after months of research and debate between it and the 85mm. In the end I knew I would love the ability to zoom for nature photography and I definitely do. I just need to start lifting weights again so I can carry the thing!
What motivates you to pick up your camera every day?
I have found that the more I learn about photography the more I want to learn. I am constantly finding techniques I want to try and practicing different ways to share the beauty of the world around me. Most importantly photography makes me feel alive and happy!
What is your favorite thing about CY365?
The nurturing community of CY365 is such a wonderful experience. Most of my life I have lacked the confidence to step out and take chances with anything new, preferring the safety of old habits and the familiar. Not once have I ever seen or experienced anything other than support and encouragement from this community which has finally allowed me to have the confidence to start the exploring the possibility of moving my photography from hobby to career.
