3 Nifty iPhone Apps | TouchReTouch, PicGrunger, PictureShow

It’s time for another iphone post!

I want to share with you 3 nifty apps that I have discovered. I use each of them often; either on their own or in combination.

The first app is called TouchReTouch. It acts like a layer mask to erase unwanted details in an image. I found it so easy to use! Use your finger to highlight an area then push the play button and voila’, gone like magic. It works best on images that aren’t too complicated. This app is also available for Android. And, there’s an HD version for the iPad. I’ve included some screen shots below.

Next up is Pic Grunger. I like to add a bit of a worn look to some of my photos.

This app is simple to use. When you open an image from your library you’re given eleven effects to choose from ranging from Acid to Weathered. You’ll see a preview of all the effects using your image, making it a snap to pick just the right tone. In the next screen you can further customize your chosen effect by changing the style, strength, border and texture. Once your photo looks just right you can share to Facebook, Flickr or Twitter or simply save it to your photo library.

A recent addition to my app collection is PictureShow. This is such a fun app! It ”emulates various toy camera styles” via 45 presets, lots of frames, various light leak settings, grain and noise. You can crop your picture, write a message on the image and more! As if that isn’t enough, there are six different lenses including a multi exposure and a quad lens. When you find the perfect combination of effects and settings, the app allows you to save your recipe. Picture Show also lets you share your masterpiece with several social media sites. Fun!

Remember to check your apps to make sure they are saving at your desired resolution. And as always, it’s best to start with a good image!

Happy iPhoning until next month.

PS…that’s our new puppy, Gus!

  1. Thanks for the info!! How do you check your apps to see that they are saving at desired resolution?

Gus is gorgeous!! I’m jealous. I need a gorgeous guy like that in my life!

    • Hi Kim. It depends on the app. On some, the settings are found in the iPhone’s master settings dialogue. Just scroll down and you’ll see a bunch of app icons. In others, they are found within the app usually in the “i” or information button or in their settings dialogue. In Pic Grunger, the resolution is right there on the first screen. It’s sort of confusing, but you only have to do it one time for each app.
And thanks! Gus is a cutie :)

      • Thank you!! I’ll definitely check these out. Love my iphone (just got the 4s in Nov.) and I have seen some truly awesome pictures taken with them … this is my year to learn! :)

  2. I am just starting to get into phoneography and love your series here on Capture Your 365. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge Kerry! These applications look awesome!
