What Are You Photographing In Fall?
Posted by Katrina Kennedy on Sep 26, 2011 in Blog | 8 commentsGabi’s photo jumped out of the gallery this morning. The leaves and the perspective grabbed my attention and made me wish I’d thought of taking it exactly as she had! I love when that happens. I love when a photo inspires me to try something specific.
It also reminded me that October’s 365 list is almost ready to upload for all of you to use as your October inspiration. I’ve got my words on the list, but I’d love to hear some of the words that capture fall for you. They might even end up on my list!
What are your favorite fall words and subjects to photograph? Thanks for sharing!

Crunchy Leaf Stomping… that is the picture I want to capture of my kids at Central Park… If I’m lucky I’ll get a couple falling just ha they stomp OH perfect! Another fun one I’m looking forward to is seeing them snuggled in blankets drinking hot Cocoa OH Fall I do love you so
Here are a few that come to mind for me …. Caramel Apples. Crisp. Blustery. Pumpkins and Gourds. Pumpkin Carving. Halloween Candy. Ghouls and Goblins. Time Change. Candy Corn.
I love the fall, too. It’s just too short and precedes my least favorite season. :0(
Tradition. I realize that “tradition” covers a lot of stuff for the next three months, but for me tradition starts with the first weekend in October for me.
Comfort Food (it always changes in October to the yummy Fall stuff), Adventure (October seems like a huge month for escaping routine, like pumpkin patches & festivals & all that jazz), Mouse (October is a big Disney month at our house every year), Emerging (because we live somewhere hot, October is when it starts to get pleasant outside- so we’re outside most of the time!).
The coolness of fall chnages my menu and we switch from potato salad to roast veggies.
Photowise, looking to switch from pools and swim suits, the color of summer (blue to me) to the colors of fall, orange, brown, green and red. Shifting my paradigm to focus on what is falling from the sky and where it lands. Trees, pumpkin patch, I can hardly wait!
Football games, squirrels, nuts, mums, fog, bonfires, scarecrows, hayride are just some of October’s delights. I’m ready to take a bunch of new photos for this season…..
Make-believe is it for me. Fall means halloween and costumes and trying special-effects photo and processing techniques. Fall also means warmth to me since that’s when we get our sunshine here on the NorCal coast; so I think of warm colors and golden, warm sunlight. Can’t wait to see all the photos of fall!
Katrina!!! You just made my evening! I had NO idea that my photo has been an inspiration for you until Susie commented on it in the gallery
Thank you!I can’t wait to see your take on this!
